We have a 1996 Ford F Super Duty truck at work,this is what is on the front fender.
Does anybody know what size this would be?
Like F-150 is a 1/2 ton , F-250 is a 3/4 ton ,
F-350 is a 1 ton

F-450. Ford had these badges for a couple of years before going to F 450
 
Just yesterday I saw an(2013?)F550.full
crewcab,dually,4x4,looked like 20" wheels,big diesel
engine.Biggest 'factory' fullsize pickup I think
I've ever seen
 
look at the VIN , it will be something like 1F4.., if it is a 3 after the F its a F350, a 4 after the F is F450 and so on, same way with the E Series van, except E250, E350 etc.

You are wrong about the VIN. The 3rd character of the VIN does not tell you the model.
 
I didn't say it would be 3rd digit specifically, the number after the F will be a 1, 2 , 3 , 4, that corresponds to the model. You can go online and get VIN decoder info if you want to be exact. Thats just a quick way of telling which weight truck it is.
