My Grand daughters still have their horses here. There are three horses and a pony now. The girls are taking care of the horses. I only have fed them a time or two while they where gone to church camp.
Now the trouble. The oldest girl has a real nice four year old gelding. He really is a smart horse. He is a prankster though. When it was hot he did not like leaving the cool barn. He would go a few laps around the pasture then he was done. I have seen horses just stop but he had to add some style. He would stop and then slowly set down on his butt. Just like a dog would. His front legs still up and his butt on the ground. The funniest thing you ever saw. Of course the Grand daughter did not think so.
So she has been working with him now it has cooled down and he is her best friend. I don't know if he did it and she encouraged him or if she taught him from scratch. He will steal my cap off anytime he can reach it. Then he runs around the pasture as fast as he can go with the cap in his mouth. He then will bring it back and drops it at your feet. Usually full of horse slobbers. He then shakes his head at you and nickers at you. I think he is laughing at me. LOL The girls think it is funny as heck. They wear hair bands and scrunchies. He will not touch them. If you wear a ball cap style hat he will steal it. He will wait until you are busy and then swipes it.
I have talked about making him dog food this week several times. I was fixing fence in the small pasture. He must have taken my hat 4-5 times. I went an got my straw hat and he never touched it.
He is not bluffed by my cattle dog either. I sent him after the horse the second time. The horse thought that was great fun. He just about wore the dog out letting him chase him around the pasture.
I think Dave needs some "character" in his pastures in Germany. He and this joker would get along just fine.
