Crop Yields.

Talked to a cousin on Sunday. Said He talked to one farmer in Central, IN. They claimed 1250 bshl corn out of 70 acres. How about some others out there?

This is all neighbors corn mine is too wet yet. I use longer season hybrids.

1. 80 acres made 40 at 20% moisture.
2. 10 acres chopped for silage made 6bu. by the insurance adjusters calculations.
3. 80 acres made 60 at 15% moisture.

The 6 bu was corn on corn the other two were corn on beans.

All these make close to 200 in normal years.

We lucky here on the Mason Dixon. Neighbor says his coming off the combine at 150+, 20% so far. Combining just started last week, mine is just starting to dry down.

South and west of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Heard of 120bpa but no not where. Do know of one 40 acre patch that did not fill a gravity wagon. Sand hill though. south edge of farm 42 bpa. Beans are not drying down at all.

Shelled 18.5 acres last week that made less than 400 bushels or about 20 bushels per acre. The field across the fence of about 21 acres made about 45 bushels per acre. Fertility and soil types were about the same on both fields, just a fence between them. The outside 12 rows were by far the best yielding rows. Joe

Most dryland is .5 to 10. Silage was cut at the end of July. One irrigated field went 150 which is 50 bu short of normal.

Took out my first field of soybeans yesterday. They went 66 bu acre. Very impressed given how dry it is. I guess it rained a bit at the right time. Corn doesn't look nearly as good tho. I live in SE MN 10 miles from the Iowa border.

Nobody combining corn or beans here yet. I should get started chopping in a couple days. Lots of guys have started or are even done chopping. We've been lucky. Silage tonnage should be near normal. Grain yields will be down, but should still be decent. Noticed quite a few ears that get significantly smaller about 2/3 of the way to the tip. They are filled to the tip, though.

Finished shelling corn last Thursday, (13th) 140 acres went 25 Bpa and 117 acres yielded 15 BPA, 15.8 to 17.0% moisture NW MO 136 hwy and I35.
6 row on R65 Gleaner, 5-6 MPH 1.5 to 2 hrs per bin, lucky to get a semi trailer load per day.
