Kubota ignition switch?

Are Kubota's known to have problems with their ignition switches? My skid steer has intermittent starting problems, the dash lights don't work in on position but do in glow plug position. A friend who is a Ford diesel tech thinks it's the ignition switch from doing some voltage and ohm tests and I was just wondering if anyone has heard of problems with Kubota switches.

I haven't heard anything about Kubota switches. I have a Kubota tractor I bought in 1987 which stays out in the weather. It still has the original switch and works fine.

Stick: As JD say you find KUBOTA engines in many diffrent skid steers. That being said USUALLY Kubota furnishes everything from engine, air cleaner and exaust but nothing OFF the engine. You may have a kubota switch . I have sold KUBOTA 28 years and yes ever now and then will see a bad or problmatic switch but most time will be a connection or relay. Down stream from that switch you will have a starting relay, small black square box. I would check that also.
Normally when the ignition switch fails it will just fail and not be something that comes and goes. Let us know what you find. jm.

I was about to respond that I've had no problem with the three I have owned. Then I remembered the commercial kubota mower I have. I have to move it around a little in the start postion to get it to turn over. It always starts though. It has about 2900 hrs on it. I brought it at an auction three years ago and the prevous owner told me about it. So its been that way since I've had it.

It's a 94 Thomas. If starting was the only problem, I think it could be the circuit breaker for the starter but in run position the dash lights and fuel gauge don't work. In glow plug position they do. When you turn the key it usually doesn't do anything in start position but when you let off to let it spring back to run position, it makes a click. Anytime I've had a starter/solenoid problem it clicks when you turn it start, not when you release the key.
