Was charged $28 today at local mart. Dang near said "no thanks". Had some ribs on the grill and ran out. Gonna get the Super M started later today!

Sorry for the bad grammar.

I pay about 20-22 bucks here in Savannah, GA. The nearest place I can get one refilled after working hours is U haul, and you can wait half an hour for someone to be free to fill it. Not worth my time.

You got $crewed, but what are you going to do wen the food is on the grill. you need to get a spare tank. I have about a dozen, use them for deer stands and fish house. If I get them filled two at a time it's $13 each. The only time I exchange is if it's a tank no one will fill. Menards, Home Depot, and Walmart are <$20.

$12 here at the LP place but the quick stops and wally world are around $ 17 to $22. We have a quick fill set up on one of the 1000 gal tanks here on the farm, makes it handy and cheap.

I don't know what the 20 pounders run as I have a pair of 30s for my camper.
Used to be I could get a tank topped off and just pay for the propane they pumped.
Now most places make you pay for 30 even if the tank was 1/3 full.

$15 to have my tanks filled at a local mom and pop store but he will fill any tank you bring him in or out of date.
Only problem is the owner is the only person that will fill tanks so you have to catch him there.
Not really a problem for me because I have extra tanks. Put my name on tank; drop it off on the way to work and pick it up full on way home or next day.

A lot of the exchange places now fill 18 pounds in the 20 pound can. Read the fine print.

Exchanges at gas stations and stores run around $17. Local suppliers run saturday morning specials for $12, fill on site.

An empty 20-pounder will hold right around 4.5 gallons. At the moment, we're refilling at $2.57 a gallon.

The exchange deal is a massive rip-off. You're not being paid for what gas (if any) is in the exchanged tank, and they're overcharging the heck out of you for the new one.

Inspection date stamped on the filler guard has to be within 12 years in most cases. If your's is getting close, do the exchange thing, but check the date on the new tank.

Sneaky, but effective. At least around here, it's nearly impossible to get a tank re-tested and re-dated.

Runs 20 to 25 bucks around here- for about 10 bucks worth of propane. Its convenient, I guess, but not THAT convenient. Several places here to refill your own bottle, but you do have to plan ahead a little and do it during business hours, when few cookouts are happening, so I can see some value in being able to exchange 24/7. If I run out during the BBQ, I just get the bottle off the cutting torch.

Gordy, it's running about $18.00 at Menards. The best $50.00 I ever spent went on a conversion kit to switch from propane to natural gas. Seemed like every couple years we'd have company (inlaws) and I'd run out. Even had two tanks before the law changed to that O.P.Device; that was when I decided to run a line outside and use the 'neverending' source. Use the old bottles on a weed burner, now.
