OT - It is what it is

A number of years ago I went to the doc with symptoms that needed to be looked into. Went thru outpatient surgery and the biopsy came back clean. Doc made follow up appointments every three months, then six, then yearly to make sure it didn"t come back. The doc wasn"t concerned but on one visit I talked to his Physicians Assistant. He was very serious but I didn"t take him too seriously. Last week I went for my yearly appointment. The doc comes in, sits down, and asks me how I"m doin. Fine, I says. He then informed me that they had coded my medical records wrong and the chart said I had a malignancy. Doc said he knew better and the chart is now corrected. I could have gotten real upset but just let it go instead. Today I got to have a CT scan because the Ultrasound didn"t turn out clear. Wondering if that could be they found something and want a better picture or if it is what they said. I"ll take whatever I get. I"m at peace with it all. Thanks for listening.

Won't that be great when your records go all over the country???? I don't allow any of mine to be digital. I will not sign any type of sharing form. I keep a copy of all of my records. When I go in to the doctor I take them with me. When I leave they go with me.

I sued one hospital/doctor system here because they "shared" my files through out their system. The settlement is making my retirement easier.

If you let them treat you like a lemming then they will keep doing it.

people wonder why health care is expensive. Was there any actual harm done to you by the "sharing"? Was it intentional? Human error? First thing people do when something doesn't go right in the medical profession is call a lawyer. It doesn't even sound like your "settlement" was a result of a botched procedure. Just that someone may have seen your records who shouldn't have. My brother is a risk manager for a hospital and there are millions of $$$ that go to people who sue at the drop of a hat and hit the "lawsuit jackpot". Sounds like you're one of them. Enjoy your "easier" retirement.

At Kaiser Permanente all my records are on the main computer. I see a doctor he has available right in the room everything that has ever happened to me. It really helps even when I go to the hospital they bring up my records and ask all kinds of questions about this or that. When You keep your records so no one can look at them you are only cutting your own throat. My wife has had breast cancer and melanoma she has very good care and is now 88 years young. When I get a new med the pharmacist can check to see if there is a conflict with my other meds no matter where I buy them.
Join the real world computers are here to stay they are your best friend use them for what they are.

Ramblin Man,

was wishes from me for good news for you. Anyway, I do hope to see you post back here with good news. SweetFeet

I"m sorry, I have no idea how I posted under your handle - brain is tired today.

I would not be happy. If they found some problem you should have been called in not wait for the normal visit which appears has happened.
Hope all goes well.

I went to the Doc for a pain in the left T. Diagnosed as a rupture, even shown the photo on the scan. Had the op.. no rupture but they put a gauze in anyway. No thought of sueing because it did ease the problem. Dr said he resited some fat. I'm mystified but happy.
