Carburetor-How does it work question?

I am working on an updraft carburetor for an old rotary air compressor I have. What is the purpose of the well vent? And why is it jetted? Thank you,
Josh

The vent allows fuel to flow from the bowl into the metering system. It works like the vent on a gas can. If the vent is clogged, it won't flow.
The jet is the actual fuel meter. It controls the amount of fuel entering the airstream at the venturi. Hope this helps.
Good Luck and God Bless

If what you are referring to as a well vent is the same as a bowl vent, it is necessary to allow air to vent from the bowl as fuel enters through the float valve. If the bowl is not vented the air will remain trapped inside as more fuel enters. Incoming fuel will raise the pressure inside the bowl and force fuel out the jets and nozzle instead of allowing the fuel level to rise high enough for the float to close the fuel inlet valve.
