Does anyone know if there is any adjustment for the clutch on a 3 speed variable transmission for a Gleaner K? I'm beginning to have trouble starting from a stop on flat ground in 3rd and even at times in 2nd when in the field. Other possible causes??? |

Put a clutch in a K2 last fall. Its not fun, remove the left front drive wheel and build up with good solid cribbing as you have to get under there. Don't trust a jack or concrete blocks. Remove the drive belt and the whole assembly can be unbolted and removed. You need some help as it is very heavy. Had a good friend help me and we did the job in one day, including having new buttons installed on the old disc. Joe

We had a guy that worked for us in the early 70s that could put a clutch in one out in the field in half a day or less. I do think there has to be a small notch cut in a brace under there to allow removal of the tail shaft.

the transmission clutch is slipping or is the varible speed belt slipping? may be time for new varible speed belt. belt dressing may get you through the season. i can't remember if there is a way to tighten that belt or not.

VS belt does not appear to be slipping. It has some age, but is still in fair shape. I need to refer back to the book to see if there is a way to tension it or not. I'm thinking not.

Tension is set by the idler...op manual details measurement between (lower?) sheaves, and how high the belt rides in the sheaves.
