In a previous post re sump oil. Do you use a ratio of 9 oil to 1 diesel and do you pre heat the oil.I see where Fordson Majors run on cast aways from the fish shop but they have an additional attachment to preheat. What is your procedure if you don"t mind passing it on. I have 32 gallons [imperial] but the council will only take 20 litres [4.5 gal?] from households but have not said whether that is each year. I am about to drain the final drive of the FMD so I have to find a disposal source. Thanking you. |

| Before I had a centrifuge, I would heat the oil to make it more viscus and get some of the water out, then I would pass it through a filter bag from dudadiesel.com. After it is filtered I mix it about 80/20 waste oil to kerosene or regular unleaded gas.
This only works in warm weather, once it gets cold out you will have a hard time starting on that mixture. In my tractors in the winter I go back to diesel fuel as it saves a headache. In my pickup I have one tank of diesel and the other waste oil mix, I start and stop the truck on diesel but once warm I run on preheated waste oil. The preheater is just a simple heat exchanger using warm coolant to warm the fuel up. |
