Thought I had saved the info - but cannot find it. Someone once made reference to two different sizes/grades of brake cable for a Farmall Regular or F20...

are the correct references "fine" and "coarse" or is there different terminology used?
Thanks if you can help.

Wire rope (cable) is defined by material (steel, stainless steel, etc.), outside diameter and number/arrangement of strands.

A "coarse" wire rope will be a 6x1 - one central wire surrounded by 6 wires. It's pretty stiff (think of utility pole guy wire...)

"Finer" wire ropes have more strands and are more flexible. 6x19 (a central fiber core surrounded by 6 strands of 19 wires each) is common. 6x37 (6 strands of 37 wires) is also common, and is more flexible than 6x19.
