opinions for a kubota BX series tractor....

All,

This is a thank-you to all responses about zero-turn mower versus a tractor.

I think a tractor would be a better fit for our land, besides, i could use it to haul small loads of wood and brush from our little piece of property.

So, I looked at a used Kubota bx2200 with mower deck, 4 wheel drive, pto, cat 1?, three point, hydro. Any good, bad or ugly about this machine?

try to get service interval records. If it has had good oil changes and clean air it shouldn't present an issue. They had a steering cylinder issue early on, but thats pretty much been resolved.

You can buy an l2500 series for that kind of money and have a real tractor. Almost real.

Dennis Th BX 2200 was the first SUB compact. Lots of tractor in a very small frame . Early ones had plastic power steering hoses prone failure by heat but those issues were resolved. If you do not expect too much out of the litttle tractor you will be OK. In reality over the years I guess I have just about as many folks come back to the dealership and make the comment "That little tractor really fooled me, does more than I ever expected" Have sold over 350 of the BX series since their introduction and most folks are satisified. Motor is good for well over 2000 hrs if you will keep the radiator clean and not run it hot. Check or change the hydrolic filter, same fluid runs the transmission and loader lift. Lots of the fuel caps leaked but there is an updated one should be ok by now.

"an 12500 series"? The grammer and typing alone should give you the value of that opinion! LOL
As stated, after a couple minor recalls on the 1st run of them: steering hoses and a fuel tank issue, they have been bullet proof! I sold well over 200 of the original BX 1800/2200 models and have never heard anything but praise. They will do alot more than you think. That having been said if someone NEEDS a bigger (real according to Gordo) then you need to step up to a bigger tractor.

A few years ago my daughter and her husband bought a new BX23 series Kubota. It was a package deal with front end loader and back hoe. and they purchased a mower deck with it. 4wd with hydro trans. I joked that it looked like a lawn tractor on steroids. But truthfully, I have never seen a small tractor that could accomplish so much! We hauled it to my place several times and I used the loader to clean up a bunch of scrap metal and trash. If I was looking to buy a small tractor right now, I would not hesitate for a minute to purchase one. The only problems they had with it were caused by my Son in law, he could tear up an anvil with a rubber hammer.

If you end up with one, wear your hearing protection. The trans in the Bx2200 that I ran at work was extremely noisy. I wore ear plugs and shooting muffs to make it quiet enough for me to run it. Other than the excessive noise it was a great tractor. We used it to sweep snow off sidewalks. Kippster
