Sat and watched as they worked this field. Just facinates me , the terrain they farm here in the Palouse. The pictures do not do justice to how steep the hillsides are. [Reply]   [No Email]

I spent a week at Moscow about 1958 with a uncle that lived there. It was around labor day and harvest was just finishing up. He got me out on several farmer friends of his. I got to run a JD 55 combine on those hillsides, That was really different for a farm kid from the midwest! No cab either,and that pipe rail looked kinda weak. I also got to drive an International TD14 while plowing for a while. I still have great memories from that trip. Delta , you will have a good time seeing how hillside farmig is done. Moscow, home of the Idaho Vandals, is just 8 miles from Pullman, home of the Washington State U. Cougars. Moscow is at the eastern edge of what is considered "the Palouse" country- rolling hills, all wheat, no trees except in the draws. The pine forests start just east of Moscow, and transition into a different type of country. I'll be in Moscow next weekend- my frat class got together last year for a reunion (45 years)- went to a Cougar game, stayed in Moscow because Pullman hotels are booked on game weekends for years in advance. Fine time had by all, so we're doing it again this year. [Reply]  [No Email]
