Farmall450 Clutch replacement

Guys, I have a Farmall 450 that the clutch needs replaced and I"m about to start to split the tractor next week. I was wondering about any tips or watch outs from your experiences. 1. I have been told to get the flywheel refaced before installing the new clutch. Details on proper facing?
2. I was gonna look at the IPTO shaft and see if it needs replaced. Seals and gaskets
3. TA was replaced already several years back so I"m going into this thinking it will be ok, but will look it over.
4. I was going to replace rear main seal and belly pan gasket while in there. Just looking for some pointers before I get too far into it and forget something thanks. Jason

First!!!make you have a good sufficient splitting stand!any thing else can result in a disaster!(tractor falling on you on someone else...)Just take the flywheel to an automotive machine shop, they will know what to do...If the ipto shaft shows any wear at all, replaceit!A worn shaft against a new pressure plate will cause them both to fail soon(ask my brother about this one!)Above all,BE SAFE!!

I agree with Deltared. Get a good set of splitting stands. Lots of folks will suggest stacking up a bunch wooden blocks to support the tractor. I DO NOT like that method, and I DO NOT recommend it.

I picked up the stands tonight actually. I had planned to replace the IPTO shaft and get the flywheel turned. What about using dowel rods to line the tractor back up? Can it be done without it or that kinda a requirement?
Thanks for the pointers. I referee back to the red power vol 26 no. 3 when the tractor dr was replacing the clutch in a 560. I figured the tractors were similar with exception of part numbers but the process should be the same. Anything else let me know I planned to start tomorrow.
