JD Injector pump rebuild

took my JD 4010 injector pump to be rebuilt. Fellow called me up and says he is close to done but sees it was 'turned up' about 30% more than the factory setting. Wow, I had no idea. The tractor was hard starting cold but ran with white smoke, never black. I told him to set it for factor setting. A friend of mine agreed with that.

Better to have the injectors tested as well, they could be the ones causing the white smoke,or the IP was off time.

I like David's thought go 10%.When you get your tractor back you are going to be disapointed in the performance.Setting up 10% adds alot of snap to a tractor and makes up for lost power in other wear areas pistons, valves ect.I also agree that anytime you do a pump that the injecters should be checked as well. A rebuilt pump will not perform and may not start any better with injecters that are not spraying properly. If you ever watch injecters being tested it is interesting to see how bad ones leak off and drip fuel compared to the pop any spray of good ones. This will not apply to a 4010 because you rebuild your injecters but the newer pencil injecters my shop will test each new one and sets the pressure.I bought six a month ago and they reset four of them so they matched.(They were new Staydine injecters made in US not China)
