After 2 years wating on one guy to fix pump 2 months looking for another pump and one month in young diesel pump rebuilder in Indy and another in local tractor shop and THIRTY years in storage (before I bough it) it runs well starts easily. It's going to stay unpainted in it's work clothes, well wheel paint was necessary and simular to putting on a clean shirt before going to town. The Edsel was purchased last week at local auction. It also runs well, haven't decided on leaving as is or refinishing. Motor runs well. Might just rebuild brakes for safety and drive it in decent weather (no salt). As I told my grandson who goes to sales and tractor showes with me, I am not spending my real money, Its just his inheritance and the other grand kids. I now have running cockshutt 20 30 40 Now must find a co-op E5 or cockshutt 50. Any body have one for sale??It's on trailer as just got it home. Going to stay loaded, going to White River Valley southern ind. show week after next.

Wow.Edsel Ranger. 58-59? Dad bought a 58 and a 59,was going to use two to make one,but there wasn't a whole lot interchangable between the two.

Oh yea,nice tractor too.

59 with 6 cylinder ( didn't know edsel offered a 6 till now) 3 speed on column. Must have been cheapest one !!

I think transmission shift patterns are same and both made by timpken desigs as i understand I think some live pto parts are same injection pumps are same

Well.....I don't know how much the Cockshutt desiners played off Oliver. Through 1946 Cockshutt sold Hart Parr then Oliver tractors rebadged as Cockshutts. Then they built their own factory and manufactured their own til White bought them out in the early 60s. Then they went back to selling rebaged Olivers again.

On the flip side,Cockshutt had live power take off two years before Oliver did and that was quite similar.

Nothing the same about Cockshutt and Oliver parts in the tractors built by the Cockshutt company in Canada. The 30,40 and 50 used Buda engines,20 used a Continetal, Olivers of that era used a Wauksha design.

Cockshutt Never used anything but a Buda in a 30 both gas and diesels, straight 40s gas and diesels only used Budas the 40 Deluxe used the Perkins,35 which he didn't ask about used the 4 cylinder Hercules.

Cockshutt? Oliver? Coop? But does anyone have a Gambles tractor? Cockshutt made them for Gambles Hardware during the '40's after WWII.

Good lookin Cockshutt 40. Dad had a 35 that was our "BIG" tractor back in the early 60's. Always though that the Cockshutts where a real nice tractor to run, lots of gear choice, good steering and of coarse live power. Bruce

The Perkins Diesel was first introduced in the Cockshutt Golden Eagle 40D4/40PD and was intended for sale in USA only.It was built in 1956-1957 and there is nobody that knows the true number of them produced. It was one of two tractors that Cockshutt gave a model name to. The other was the Golden Arrow which was used to show some new technology that was used the next year in the models 540 and 550.

OMG! A six cylinder with three on the tree! That thing is bound to be quite rare. Underpowered for a heavy vehicle like that, but the 223 six was offered in Fords until '64. I started to buy one but glad I didn't. Both the tractor and car look good though.

My grandpa had a '59 Ranger 4 door light green two tone until a couple years ago, had 63,000 miles on it when they sold it. Wish I could have bought. Really liked that car. Have fun with yours.

Very good looking 40. There was a bunch of them (as well as the 30 and 50) sold here. Never saw any with the adjustable front axle though. Some had the big wheatland fenders. I've got a "project" 40 diesel out in the shed that used to be a Perkins diesel. Frozen cracked block so I dropped in a Buda diesel replacement.
Got a 50 and a 40 that my dad bought many years ago still working. Heres the 40.
