Round spoke wheels

I always wondered how these wheels were assembled.
Mainly, how was the spoke tightened in the hub? The
hole in the center is often not very big, especially
in the case of front wheels, and I figured it must
take a lot of force to mash the spoke and make it
tighten up. It just looks to me that the operation
would require more support than could be attained by
inserting a bar through the hub. Thanks, Fritz

They do have special tooling to press them together but they are done red hot so as they cool the tighten just like the hot rivet that many old structures where built with. Look at a Steam engine boiler some time they are sealed with hot rivets.
