Blanchard steam tractor show

Well, over for another year.
Lots of tractors, more junk than ever in the flea market. Lots of tractors in the various pulls - three venues. Steam powered sawmill, also had shingle mill, bucksaw and saw that looked like a planer, but had two blades for cutting parallel cuts for making 2x4 stuff. Son and I were involved with the steam powered thrashing demonstration, unfortunately missed a lot of the show. Brought home 3 gravity boxes loaded with oats, probably 275 bushels, and about 200 bales of straw. We forked most of the bundles into the thrasher. Ache all over - gonna have blisters in the morning. Worst oopsie was when the baler the other fellow brought ran out of wire to tie the bales. Son had to scramble home and bring our string tie baler back to finish the job. Brought back most of the wagons last night - parked them in the neighbor"s barn, Just got home, pulled the last load of oats in our garage/polebarn, and tarped the last load of straw when it started sprinkling. (We"ve had somme real doozies of rainstorms over the years - had to fight awfully hard to keep things dry.) Saw rrlund (thanks for taking a turn on the fork) along with a number of other friends and neighbors - some may have been ytmager"s.)

One of the steamers had the most important job... Cooking the sweetcorn for the concession stand. Had an ear - MAN was that tasty!

Joan and I made it up there today.
We watched the thresher run for a bit on steam power.
You may have been one of the guys forking off the wagon, there were two guys when we watched.
Quite a few Case tractors there with the same owner. Would have been nice to talk
to him. We used to have a 930 CK gas. (941) Sold it this spring.
Wandered around the flea market a while, some one had $60 marked on a used 13 hole TSC cat 1 three pt drawbar???
Was your baler the JD?

The old guy was me, younger was my son. Wish you"d come up and said HI, but we had no way of knowing of the YTMAG connection. Guy who owns the Garr Scott steamer on the sawmill also owns the line of JDs along east side of thrashing area, as well as the thrash machine, owns the JD 24WT baler - the one out of wire! Name is Duane Paulson. Mine was the NH 268 (actually my wife"s - she bought it.) Also had her MF 180 there on one of the wagons. Gary Nixon had the JD 60 on the baler.

You'd have thought somebody'd have snapped a few pictures of us working up a sweat wouldn't you?

sorry to have missed you. Wife and I drove out to the show. Got within a mile and was nearly caught up in the rollover on blanchard rd east of the park by where guy rd ends. Local man lost control for some reason and rolled multiple times. I dont think the guy was doing very good as they were talking about life flighting him out. Heard rumors today at work that he passed away. Not sure. Anyway that made me a bloody dirty mess so I just turned around and went back home. Sorry cause I would have loved to help fork off oats. Not as much as I like loading them but ok. Watch for you next yr.

Man, I missed my chance to say high again. I did speak to several of the folks on the steam engines. My wife is from Blanchard, and several of her realatives were running around. Her uncle was the one making the shingles with the name/date on them, had a hard time keeping the coal hot. It's a pretty good show, I like to go every year. Wish I could have spoken to they guy with the JD 60 orchard, I have the exact same tractor. I watched you thresh, hot and dirty work, but entertaining.

Those LP Deeres and the 3010 NF?
We saw them pull out to go home, along with the baler
behind...not sure....4010 maybe?
They made quite a parade on the way home!
Looked like the whole family riding/driving.
