O/T Daughter's new toy.........

A coupla months ago, our daughter started a new job with a real estate title company in McLean, VA, just outside of DC. It was a significant step up for her.

However, since she lives in the District, she lost the option of riding the Metro to work. After commuting to her new job for a month or so, she finally decided her faithful '96 Saturn was getting a bit long in the tooth for what was required of it.

This is a 2013 Hyundai Veloster. The only import I've ever owned was a Fiat Spyder roadster back in the 1970's, but I've heard good things about Hyundai. She leased this one for 36 months, instead of buying, but in her case it makes sense.

A lot of little extras came with this. Besides bells and whistles she hasn't figured out yet, she has free car washes for the life of the lease, etc.

Guess we'll have to plan a trip to DC so she can take us for a ride in it.

Good to see them growing up and making positive steps in life. As I told my sons, sometimes you fall down along the way, getting back up and going is again is living.

Good for her!!you're a proud papa....My son bought a 2 yr old Hyundai 'Tiburon' 5 years ago.He loves it.It's been across the country twice.Great cars.

about 6 years ago son-in-law traded my daughter's Honda Civic two door on a 4 door Kia and I flipped. They still drive the Kia daily, I don't think it has ever been in the shop except for regular maintenance.

She's aware of that, and she doesn't drive that many miles. She owned that Saturn 10 years and put 21,000 miles on it.

She'll put more more miles on this one 'cause she'll commute with it daily, but she can still predict fewer miles than the minimum on the lease.

Interesting that you should say that. When Amy was a Junior in high school, a Sociology teacher gave the class a quiz.

One of the questions was, "Name one important thing about life you've learned from your father".

Amy responded, "To pick myself back up after I've been knocked down". At the age of 16, I didn't realized she'd ever been knocked down, but then you don't always know what your kids go through.

Goose,
Congratulations to your daughter on the new job and new car.

I think she will love the Hyundai. Our daughter bought one 4 years ago,(different model but she loves it). My brother and one of my sisters also drive Hyundai's and they love them too.

Our daughter just received the money her Grandfather left her and bought a new CRV Honda. When she talked to the finance lady they did a credit check and the lady turned to her and said "We have a problem". My daughter says"listen I can right you a check for the full amount if I want to I just want to finance part of it to establish some credit". The lady replies "OK... I think we can work with that"

If you look close, there's a handle in the black at the upper rear of the window.

The rear door is only on the right side.
