I need some cab interior parts for my 1979 GMC 7000 grain truck. What years and model numbers of Chevrolet and GMC would be similar? Things I need are dash board cover, flooring, instrument cluster, radio, and some other simple things to improve the cab. Are pickup cabs the same? Thanks. |

andy r., 73 through 87 are are the correct yrs.For the C-60, C-65, C-70. Most all interior parts from 1/2, 3/4, 1T will cross with no problems. Cab / firewall, floorboard will vary some IMO. I have seen Crew cabs interchanged for regulars, saw a Limo set-up used a Suburban as the base of the build. I am just not sure if the Firewall is the same or will have to be changes. I would say Yes the cabs are the same with minor differences in places. Hope this helps. Later, John A.

73 to 80 were the same, some of the pickup stuff will fit, doors ect, but dash and cab you must stay with the medium duty trucks as there are some differences, like pickups, chevy stuff has slightly fancier trim than the gmc 81 to 87 dash cover will fit the cab, but will look slightly odd on a 73 to 80 dash , vent windows are slightly different 81 and up will fit the 73 to 80 door, but you must use the whole vent window assembly that mounts in the door

The cabs on the pickups and conventional mediums were basically the same. Things such as dash pads were nicer in the pickups, padded instead of a kind of hard cardboard. Seats, doors, most everything except the floor pan was the same. Parts for a 1979 7000 would match the 1973 to 1980 pickups. In 1981 the dash pad was changed in both pickups and mediums, these were used until 1987 in the pickups and I believe 1990 in the mediums. I've used a lot of pickup parts in my medium duty Chevys. The dash fascia (around the gauges) was a bit different, i.e. manual choke, warning lights, etc.

don't think pickup cabs are the same. My 1980 GMC cab is different from the pickups.
