O.T. Well water

I am looking for a small filter to remove the iron taste from my well water. The water is not that bad I do drink it now just want it a little better.I don't want something complicated or for the hole house. If anyone knows of one were do I buy it at? THANKS

Go to any home center and get a whole house filter that uses cartridge type filters. Put in a charcoal filter and it will impove the taste of the water.

Brita filtering water pitchers work well. Available at Walmart, Target and others. Then one buys replacement filters for them. Our water has very high iron content and I think the Brita makes it taste good.

I'm a little leary of the whole house filters because my parents had one spring a leak in their basement. They did not find it for several days and it badly flooded their basement and ruined all the furniture down there.

We use a reverse osmosis filter under the sink. Turn out WATER and nothing else. Makes great coffee.

Try those britta (??) faucet filters or a filter pitcher......

We run a whole house filter and it works good. Change the filter every three months, just turn the water off, open a faucet let the pressure off, unscrew the filter housing. Lots of rust on the filter in three months.

I use an Omni filter it's made for the whole house, but I have it plumbed for filtering just the water to the kitchen and to the water dispenser and ice maker on the refrigerator. I change it once a year. Don't need your cold water filtered for brushing your teeth or doing laundry. Cost is about $55.00 just for the filter. Buy the bracket that's used for supporting the filter. It's quite heavy when the filter holder is full of water. There's a shutoff on the filter so you don't need to shutoff the whole house when changing filters. I did install a shutoff when I installed the first Omni filter about 25 years ago. Hal

A friend of mine uses rain water off his barn in large plastic containers and filters it through charcoal beds. He says that he can drink it.................I wouldnt.

Go to walmart and buy a "Zero Water" filtered water pitcher thing.

They fill slowly, so a bit of a pain to use - but work very well.

Then you don't have to do any plumbing. Plus the water's always a little colder being in the fridge.

Othewise - I'd do the whole house filter thing - easy install. Just cut your main line in and pop it in place.

We have a reverse osmosis setup too, under the sink with a tap that comes thru the counter to the sink, it works great, water is perfect.

our well water is horrible, salt and every other mineral, nasty tasting and unhealthy stuff.
we installed this sears RO drinking water system two years ago, it supplys plenty very good soft water for drinking or cooking.
It makes about 3 gallons per day and stores it in a 4 gallon pressure tank.
It is made to mount under the kitchen sink or in the basement where we have it.

I grew up in NE Texas on a farm, only had cistern water, it came off the roof of the house. Myself and 5 brothers and a sister survived with no ill effects, sometimes we even had to skim the tad-poles out of the bucket b/4 we brought it in.
