Oliver 1755 Injection Pump

My pump leaks into the front of my tractor. I got new seals and put them on the pump shaft, but I can"t seem to get that shaft in there the right way. I know the seals have to face opposite directions on the shaft and you have to work that first one in there. I get them in, out of site, slide the shaft in the rest of the way and for some reason when I go check on it a few minutes later I have fuel running down the mounting plate behind the hub.

Could there be something else wrong?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Did you replace the O-ring on the pilot tube? Otherwise if you have not damaged the seals, or had the one on the pump side flip over while you installed the pump, you may have too much wear on the pilot tube in the pump so the new seal will not seal the fuel.

Thanks for the reply.

The pump was rebuilt last summer, so I hope the guy put on a new O ring.

I wondered about wear on that tube. I have no idea how I could be more careful than I have been. I have talked to the pump rebuild guy, and he told me I have to take the pump off to put the shaft in. That is against what my manual says. I have tried 4 or 5 times and I don"t see how it could be any easier with the pump off.

Thanks.
