Gear Oil for Massy Harris 50 Gas

I need to add some gear oil to my old 1950"s MH -50 gas tractor. It says to use 80-90 gear oil. Would Lucas (#10066) gear oil 80-90 weight be ok to use?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

I don't think it would hurt any thing. I have used it in gear cases that gaskets were seeping and after useing for a while they stopped seeping.

Check out the archives, or scroll down on the Harry Ferguson and Massey forums, lots of info on a few oil threads just lately, one of them mine. There is a difference between #90 mineral oil and 80-90 gear oil. So check on those forums before you spend a wad of 20's...

Please do yourself a favor and DO NOT use gear
oil, unless you never need the hydraulics. The
book plainly says to use mineral oil (GL-1) I
believe. You will sticky up those hydraulics
unless you don't care. Chuck
