Strange corn.... Or strange farmers...

Posted awhile ago about some corn that was over head tall and no ears or tassles... FF and that stuff is easy over 10ft tall with big ears about ready to go.... Guess it's a different variety than usually in this area.... Anyway, the next puzzle for my little mind, mid August and I passed a field this morning with corn not even waist high.....Anyone know of a benefit to planting that late? Or maybe they just need the green mass for biogas??? Whatcha think???

Sorghum, that's what I was trying to think of at Dave2's first post... could not come up with it.

I'll watch it and see...... It's only about a quarter mile from the house but farmed by someone in the next town over so I don't know who it is to ask..... Just curious......
