Finally got the ole 641 back together. ...and it sounds terrible. Not sure what I did, but after re-wiring it. (...and getting the new alt issue figured out), new head gasket and head worked, new carb, (zenith from here and I appreciate the expedient service by the way), new fuel line and a por15 gas tank treatment and covering, she sounds like a pin ball machine. lol.

I guess I did something wrong with the setting the valves. Taking her to someone that knows more than i do. This old cantankerous machine has got me feeling silly.

I'm starting to see the point of just signing my name and making monthly payments on a new one. :roll:
 
Ford and IHC wiring had a difference- do it wrong way and get 2 cylinders firing way off about 90 degrees or so. 1 and 4 or 2/3 reversed?? For valve lash- check manual and if no manual start .020 intake and exhaust cold, then snug a bit warmer- I vaguely remember something like .014/016 intake, maybe .018 exhaust. RN

finish it and it turns out to be an easy fix? You got all the hard
stuff done already. Just needs a bit of tinkering to get it
perfect.
