17 . Four applied and received four bull tags. Mrs B&D and B&D Jr not attending this year so two actual tags to use. If we add an American the outfitter provides a Cow tag with the deal. If it"s brown, it"s down.

Sounds like lots of meat to go around, you take a trailer up? I could send a couple of our young trigger happy guys....they like the brown its down slogan, but not good in our area with only one tag, as well as deer and an outside chance of seeing elk....good luck and enjoy your time in the bush....Alex

If you can handle a 14ft aluminum Lund boat and a 6HP outboard. You are just as qualified and just as quick as anybody else.
Americans have a tag provided with their license. We have to enter a lottery.
Depart Sept 10th for two weeks, area 17 in Ontario. We arrive early to set up, fish and relax.
Sound shots and hunting after drinking not allowed.

We need more of them (hunters) here in NH. The moose are getting to be a nuisance.

Moose?
It isn't all that much fun in my book. Once you pull the trigger, the fun is done! The thrill of the hunt is about like hunting your neighbors cow. There is nothing easy about retrieving it and gutting it is bad... particularly if you have short arms. Tuff to reach into the body cavity to get heart, lungs, wind pipe out. Then there is the stinky old bull P-U! like an old billy goat!
Think I will stick to beef critters.... although I do still put in for the annual moose lottery here in Maine, just not sure why.

I think only a man's man with an eagle eye and an artillery caliber muzzle loader would try this. Normally hunting this animal is like shooting the neighbor's cow. Not a cleaver cunning prey, but get it angry, scared, wounded? Now you got a monster you need a second third or forth shot of a decent caliber. I would want nothing less than a 303 or 308 if even in the woods with moose around, just in case he don't like you...and you got to remember, a moose swamp is about 40 degrees cooler than a Florida swamp!

Understand your point on BP. I have taken elk with mine (.54 cal cap lock).

Wife has inline but all mine are either flint or cap lock.

If I am fortunate enough to go on this trip (bday present to me) I will be carrying .300 Win Mag with Nosler Partition (180 gr.), 70 gr. IMR-4831, CCI 250 primer, and WW brass. Will be looking at other loads.

I had one young hormone driven bull experience.. Heard a slight sound, looked around and boom, dropped a 360 inch moose. That is 360inches from the end of the barrel to the moose.
Another day while setting up my chair in the bush/woods along a trail. I set the rifle down, called like a lonely cow looking for company. Sat down in the chair and heard a thumpity , thump, thumb . Was nearly run over by a bull as he ran around the corner. Scrambled out of the chair, grabbed the rifle and dropped that bull as well. That one was under 20 yards.

I wouldn't mind going, but I'm afraid I'd have to buy a new rifle.

Oh, the shame of that!

Joking about the rifle, not about going.

I used to hunt moose back when we lived outside of Tok Alaska.

My wife and I have shot 17-18 of'em during the years we lived there, we even like moose meat a tad better than buffalo meat.

We always have a Moose hunter wannabe show up in Iowa on the rare occasion a moose wanders down here. "Gee, I thought it was a deer, officer"! Jim
