Lagrange Co Show

Just got home from the Lagrange Co gas ans steam show in Lagrange IN. Dad and I walked all day and saw some pretty cool things. One of the coolest I saw there and have seen it there before was a nicely redone Farmall M but it was 4 wheel drive. Not sure if I would care to drive it around all day but it is a beefy looking tractor. Got some parts for dads' tractor at the flea market area and had some good food. Overall a very good day.

Brett,

Not only is your post interesting, but the best part of the whole thing is that you and your dad spent the day together. There is WAY too little of that kind of thing today, and I really believe that has a lot to do with the problems that we are having in society.

Keep it up. You're doing a great thing.

Thanks.

We have always been a fairly close family. When we were younger, mom and dad took us all camping. As I got older, dad and I never really "hung" out too much and never really talked much. Now that I have this interest in tractors and restoring them, we talk a lot more. Even though it is mainly about tractors, we talk.

You are right, there needs to be a lot more of it and I feel that is part of the problems with society today.

Thanks

I was there all day also. Great show, was planning on yesterday, but rain scared me off. Warren Bolton had real nice 25-50 Avery there and more nice Cockshutts than I have ever seen. Can't beat that Gropp's fish for lunch, but it was about a 1/2 hour wait.

We didn't stand in the line for the fish, we got the pulled pork sandwiches. You can go to Turkey Lake Tavern in Elmira IN and get that good fish with no lines. Hahaha. I think they said there were 125 Cockshutts and Coops there. My dad and I might be going to a show up in MI next weekend we heard about but I can't remember where it is. We heard about it today but forgot where it is. In 2 weeks is the Portland IN show and I can't hardly wait, it will be my first time to that one.

We went there Friday...in the rain. It's a good show and always has been. Just love the usual "Rumely Action" (when it isn't raining). Always enjoy watching John Shrock rip up logs at the nice sawmill inside and the Amish guys outside with all their activities. Nice grounds, nice show!

No and I am kicking myself for it. I was in a bit of a rush to get going. Had to get my 6y/o daughter around to drop her off at grandmas house and totally forgot my camera.

I spent about 3 hours at the show yesterday (Sat). It was a really good show all around - good tractors, good flea market, and good food :) . Brett, you're right - that FWD M was very interesting. I wish i had thought to take pictures... I just loved hearing that steam engine under load running the biggest sawmill.

Paul, recognize this little beauty?

I will be putting together a show for Wolcottville on June 2nd of 2013 if your interested. It will be the town appreciation day. Not sure how the 1st year will go over, but its in the book to try.

I try to talk to me teenagers but they know everything, talk a strange dialect, or mumble, grunt if they reply at all! LOL

2 of them have entered that "your a old FART" (Fathers Against Radical Teenagers) stage and
would rather be dead then seen hanging out with their old man.

Only time I get some dialog is when they want something. Partly my fault as I raise them to be independent. Partly because I am a PITA too!
Can't help it, got it from my MOM!

Pete

I completely understand. I have a 16 y/o stepson, who is a spolied brat. His mom would buyhim crap all of the time before we got together. Now his tastes are expensive and we can't afford all of that crap. He is a PITA also but at times he can be a good kid.

His dad and him don't get along at all and he wants to be with us all of the time. We spend some time together and for the most part it is ok.

I also have a 6 y/o girl with my wife and that is good. I firmly believe that kids are just given too much and they need to earn things.

It will get better, because when they get older they will realize what they have become is a result of their parents. I remember looking back and not wanting to hang with dad. Now I call him daily and we talk a lot.

Good luck.

Absolutely. Dad and I would like to be able to take our tractors to the shows but we don't have a trailer to do so. I have a Farmall Super C and he has a Ford 2n. Might be painting his soon and I painted mine last year.

PLEASE send out a reminder. I will also be telling people about it.

Thanks

I love that one each year it is there. I don't think that would be very easy to turn and probably not very practical or there would be more of them.

Thank you for the picture
