I was imprisoned at Enid, OK (Vance AFB) June 1974 to December 1981. I clearly recall the summer of 1980 when they had 90 days of 90 plus of which 30 days were 100 plus. Hottest day was 117. A wind shift prob would do us in. It started south of Luther ,Ok. spread thru that town & moved north and east. Reports said at times it burned 80 rods in 10 min. Wind up to 25 - 30 MPH. Humidity about 11% , temps this afternoon in the 113* range. 25 houses were reported burned there. Interestat 44/ Turner turnpike was shut down about supper time, as was Rt. 66, due to smoke. The fire crossed I 44. Just stepped outside , I 44 must be open , can hear trucks running on it now. Our temp at midnite is 93* now. Keeping our fingers crossed .About ready for bed , going to sleep ' litely'. clint [Reply]  [No Email]

Had a farm fire yesterday, 2 barns gone, home saved, grain bins, too, but damage to another building, outside equipment. But nothing like the fires around Stillwater and OKC.....
