little inverter generators???

Just saw in the bb store today a little 2stroke inverter generator. Puts out 230 volts with 900 watt continious and 1800 surge and has a 12 volt outlet on it also. Didn't find it on the box and am wondering how many amps (?) the 12 volt puts out. Anyone have something close to it (110 volt I'm sure)??

No. In a store over here.... Can't find anything on the internet about the 12 volt outlet other than it has one........ 800 watts is plenty to let me wire florescent lights (and a couple LED floodlights at the two stalls outside town for winter and just plug in.

We see a lot of the Chinese products over here that are the same internally but marketed under a plethora of brand names in the USA. Things may well be different there.

Volts X Amps = Volt amps.
Volts X Amps X Power Factor = watts
Not unusual for a 120V single phase motor on 120V to be drawing 10amp and be rated at 600W.
Unless you know, add up the amps and forget about the watts.

What I am trying to figure out is, the generator puts out 850 watts which is more than enough for all the lights I'll need. But, since it also has 12 volt output, could I plug in my 2000 watt inverter to the 12 volts and get 2000 watts from the inverter....

Did I ask that clear enough? It's not a show stopper, just wondering if it'd work....

Why would you even consider a 2 stroke? That is so 1960's it is funny. And when seconds count, you are spending half a day pulling a rope... You can get a 2000 or 3000 watt that plugs in a cigarette lighter in any car and power a house. Yeah you got to make 200? 240volts? That is still 10 or 15 amps before a pop off. But I'm sure the Chinese shop that made mine makes some for your juice too.
Is it dejaveu or have we had this conversation before????? About watering troughs????

It's small and light enough to grab and throw on the quad or on the tractor fender and go..... I have an inverter (2000 watts) and really don't need an extra motor to fool with, it was just on sale and looked convenient.... I'll stew on it a few days and maybe change my mind....

I would like to see a 2000-3000 watt inverter that runs off a cigarette lighter with a 15 amp fuse .
A 12V inverter at 2000 watts draws 170 amps
3000 watts at 12V takes 250 + amps.

A cig lighter plug inverter will give you 150-200 watts max before blowing the lighter fuse.

If it worked , you"ve just solved the worlds energy problems. You"re hoping to more than double the output by simply running it thru an inverter. Check the inverter to see how much 12v power input needed to make 2000 watts.

Holy cow! I must have just halucinated the caravan keeping the house lit and warm thru the Haloween ice storm! And how my campervan is powering my 110v fridge, mircowave (OK off a 2000/4000W max unit), electric skillet, hot plate coil etc etc....
Dave, I made a new year's resulution the last time I tore a tendon at my rotator cup.... don't buy anything that starts with a rope any more.

These little chinese generators are brilliant for the first twice you use them. After that, you will pull and pull on the cord, wishing you had bought a Honda.Dont ask how I know. Phil

You may well be powering all that stuff off a 2000 watt inverter, but your not powering the inverter off the 15 amp lighter plug like you stated in your OP.

Mine still starts just fine after several years. It doesn't have a lot of hours on it (maybe 10) and only gets used a couple times a year. However, I never shut it off. I just turn the gas off and let it run the carburetor dry.

It's not unusual for a Sears compressor to be "Rated" ? horsepower, but puzzleing to find
the nameplate rating 600 watts !
They must use different power factors in those 3rd world countries where they make em.
