O/T drill repair

I have an old Craftsman drill that belonged to my dad. Its a big one and one of the old good ones. The handle is broken. I would like to get it fixed but don't know anyone who does that.

Any suggestions?

We have a place in Dallas and the farm is about 60 miles west and a little south of Texarkana. I would also be willing to ship it.

Thanks

So Nancy how far is the farm from New Boston TX..
jm. Have no idea where to get the drill repaired.. was just wondering about the farm location, we have bussiness connections there in New Boston TX>

What is it made of??? Year ago we had an old money wards drill that had an aluminum case that got something drop on it and we took it to a guy who did tig welding and he was able to weld it back up. Did not look real good bit it still worked that way

Nancy, Because it's Craftsman, you may need to get the parts from Sears. I had a Kenmore washer that was more than 20 years old. Sears told me parts are no longer available.

Some places don't carry parts for items more than 10 years old. We live in a throw away world.

Your best bet for finding parts will be to post a pic of your drill and see if anyone has an old defective drill with a good handle, then transfer your parts over. Post on craigslist or perhaps YT.

When it comes to finding a repair shop or service center, their labor bill will be way more thatn it costs to buy a new very good drill.

Can't help you on repair shops in TX. Call sears and ask them for a local service center.

I'm sure any service center could fix it. You need to do the leg work and find parts. LOL

By chance you wouldn't happen to have the model and serial number would you. That would be handy to look up parts. Shoot me an e-mail if you can get these #'s for me. Thanks Gregg

If it is aluminum, take it to a good welding shop or friend that can tig weld it. You maybe will have to take the switch out first.

Nancy, have you checked with Craftmen have heard of them repacing or repairing tools with a life time quarentee. gitrib

Being that it is a Sears Craftsman is a problem
Sears..doesn't MAKE anything..They own the name
Craftsman..and have it put on stuff others..
usually a low bidder, make..Your drill could have
been MADE by anyone...sold by Sears. Made by Who?
Same with a washer/ dryer/ stove/ microwave???
Sold by Sears...Made by Who?
