Way OT:Kids permanent teeth missing

My 11 yo has really buck teeth. He gets regular dental care. The orthodontist kept saying to wait a little for his mouth to grow and his last baby teeth to fall out. On a lark, went to a different ortho. His xray revealed that he has four baby molars to fall out but NO! permanent teeth behind them to come in. And never will be!! Options are, implants or try to keep baby's as long as possible. He says he has a patient that is 60 with a baby tooth yet. I guess its not super rare for teeth to be missing. A teacher at school has a young daughter that never got a permanent front tooth! That would be devastating. Any of you ever hear of such a thing as no perm. teeth?

Have a cousin that had that problem. He had implants if I remember correctly.Didn't seem to hurt his eating any.Better not let him be first at the table.

I had three teeth removed by a cow last year. Didn't cost much but hurt like hell.

aint heard of it myself,but i can assure you no teeth are permanent! i had a couple of mine removed by a piece of two inch pipe.

My daughter and wife both where missing their eye teeth or the canines I think they are called. On wife they tried to pull her back teeth forward with braces as a child. Turned out to be a big mistake. Has had multiple surgeries to correct since. Daughter we went with implants. No problems but WAY expensive. Good luck.

I'll be 44 next month and have two baby teeth for molars. The adult teeth were never there. My dentist says that they probably won't last as long as the adult teeth because the roots aren't as long. I wouldn't worry about it until something happens with them. My baby teeth had extra long roots and didn't want to fall out even when the adult teeth tried to push them out. My mouth was a mess of extra teeth for a few years until my orthodontist got it straightened out. I seem to remember pulling some of my baby teeth myself when I was 16. I've had 1 cavity in my whole life.

Get those buck teeth fixed before the bully's run his self esteem down. My teeth were so bad I could stick an apple to my face and have it stick. Got teased a lot and called bucky, beaver teeth etc. Created big problems for me as my reaction was to hit the offender right in the face. Needless to say that didn't go well for me at school or at home.

Folks did pay for the orthodontist to fix them and that phase of my youth was over.

Never heard of no secondary teeth to grow in.

Does he have any sort of calcium deficiency? We know a guy that has what they call "peg" teeth due to some type of deficiency in calcium... ties in with under hypo-parathyroid. Just wondering if NO teeth can be caused by something similar, or if it is just something that happens occassionally.

I am missing a pre-molar (the small molars behind the "eye teeth") on each side on the top, and never had any wisdom teeth. My wife is a dental hygienist- says its not common, but as others on here have said, it does happen.

I"m 24 and still have 3 "baby" teeth. Dentist told me that I have nothing to worry about.

At age 70, I have 1 baby tooth still doing it's job of chewing!

I will tell you my experience. I am 21. At 16 I lost a molar that didn't have a permanent tooth under it. GET AN IMPLANT. They are more expensive. Much more expensive but they will out last a bridge/ baby tooth for quite a while. They basically but a bolt into your jaw bone, then screw a new replacement tooth on top. It looks natural and doesn't affect my eating at all. I was told a bridge would last 10 years then Id have to replace the two teeth on either side. Just my experiences.

I have had 2 bridges for over 26 years. I don't know what they are made of but they look like metal. My current dentist admires them and said they were in great shape. Just my experiance.

Same age here, nearly identical story, I got implant, its awesome. Makes for some cool x-rays!
