Made a trip from north of Freeport Mn. to see reletives at Hutchinson Mn. today. I would say that 90 per cent of the corn looks good. There was one field that was totally brown to the top. After thinking about it for a while, I think it maybe was sprayed with round-up by mistake as the fields around it didn't look that bad from the drought.

Did you go down MN 15 to Hutch? Stc to south of Kimball is sand, and if it"s not irrigated, pretty much toast. I"m just west of there, but on clay. Subsoil recharged May/June, 3 dry weeks that pushed the roots down, and 2.4 inches the last 2 weeks. Good crop got greener. Pretty well made now. Both rains variable within couple miles. But yes, we are in excellent shape.

Yes, we were on 15. It was south of St. Cloud where it was bad. Must be sandy there. Rest looked good. What are those big broad-leaf weeds in some of the corn fields? Some are taller than the corn.

Probably nightshade. We call them elephant ears. If let go, they get berries on, Red? or blue? Elevator guys don"t like to see that in the corn....they burst and stain.
