Arbor Vitae not too tough

My good friend Steve asked me to come over and pull some arbor vitae trees out of his front yard.
It had to be done on Sunday morning though.
Get out of church with the wife for once?
I didn't question his logic and I don't think she did either.
So I hopped on the 4000 this morning and drove it the 5 miles to his house. Crossed the Mississippi River at the Camden bridge in Norf Minneapolis.
It was kind of disappointing actually. The trees are rather shallow rooted and even on a 5" tree I never broke traction. In fact I don't know if the governor even kicked in.
I pulled a bunch of 2" Ash, Chinese Elm, silver maple and a Locust out of his back yard too where it was getting overgrown.
I remembered to bring the camera along so we snapped a couple of pics.
It doesn't seem to matter the age, gender, race or culture here in the city. You get smiles and waves from all kinds when you drive an old tractor around.
Yeah, yeah, I need to attend to those wheel weight bolts one of these days. Don't get your fender too close.

Nice looking Ford!

I had my old 630 JD in town to do some blade work down at my Mom's house. On the way home, I filled it up at my friend's gas station. He asked me if I'd pull out a big bush that had overgrown his front picture window at his house next door to the station. I told him I didn't have a chain with me, and he said he had a brand new one, still in the bag, that I could use. I worried about breaking his chain, and he laughed and said, "You won't break my chain with THAT little tractor." I got the bush pulled out, but Junior had two chains when we got done.
