What oil should I use in my pre 1985 tractors? should I use a zinc additive?

Many folks use Rotella 15-40 and I have been doing it for a couple of years now.

Gas? Diesel? I run Kendall SuperD 15-40 diesel oil in all of mine,gas and diesel. Only have to keep one kind of oil around that way.

You do not need to worry about an additive. I run 15W-40 delvac which is a rotella clone.

i agree 15 - 40 diesel rated oil is great for older tractors, ive been running it in mine for many years started doing that as i have trucks too and always have that around here and its a far cry better than the oil they used when new too
