Deutz 4006 common problems?

Hi,

I am taking a look at a Deutz 4006 with a front end lift, and was wondering if anyone has experience on common problems to look for.

Good reliable tractor that just is a little crude. They are not the handiest but are tough as nails. The only down side is the parts are sky high through AGCO. I have heard there are other Duetz parts available that are more reasonable but have not had to find out. Not many Duetz around me here any more. Used to be a few but the dealer died and no one else took it up.

You don't see many old ones for sale here in the land of Deutze.... Folks that have them hang on pretty tight. Seems like it takes someone dieing without someone taking over to get them in the paper. Then, they usually bring a pretty good price.... The one you're looking at air cooled or the water cooled export model?

Excellent little tractor. My dad had a 4506 which is a bit newer, but same thing practically. Very very fuel efficient. Started at 5 below every time. I wish he would have kept that too when he retired. We are fortunate enough to have a Deutz dealer in town here. He has about 50 or 60 sitting in a bone yard which helps for parts as well.
