IH 1468 1568

They used the DV550(diesel fueled,'V' configuration)Alot of them were later twin turboed. That engine was set to idle on 4 cykinders, wide open on all 8.that was not too satisfactory, most have been converted to run on all 8 at all times. The later '9liter' is a direct descendent and will interchange.

The DV 462-550 were not a very popular engine in their trucks.I worked at a IH truck shop back in the 70's,you couldn't give those engines away. After the word was out,the only people that bought them were the Govt.Unless you're looking for one for a tractor,I would think scrap price.

Due to the low number produced they are one of the most collectable IH.They did not have much torque or bottom end power and were a dog compared to a good 1066 or 1466.Now they bring twice as much.Saw some nice ones at RockValley bring from 17k to 31K.They do have a nice sound. The 3208 CAT was put in some other brands with pretty much the same results.
