OT. meat yeild of hog

having a pork sandwhich fund raiser and need to know how the meat yield of a hog after butcher (or hanging weight).

in other words how pounds of meat can you get from a say 100lbs half hog for example??

I'm gonna say around 70 pounds of meat from a 100 pound half of hanging butchered hog.

Just a SWAG.

40 yrs ago I think it was 50 to 60%. I think it's quite a bit more now. This was figured from live weight though.
 
When we butcher hogs, 65% of live weight is about as close as you can get. A lot of that also depends on the hog, i.e., Breed, free range vs. pen kept, feed type, age, etc...
 
OK- that"s not what you asked. 70-82% of hanging weight should end up on the table. Googled something like cutout percentages of live hogs.
 
As others have said, 60-70%. Just remember, that a true old german butcher, would use every part of the hog, 'cept the squeal!
