Kawasaki Mule - need insurance?

Buying one for my wife, that is what she wants. Will be used on the farm exclusively. Does your homeowner policy cover it? To me it is just like having another tractor, which is covered by our policy, but people are telling me that it needs it's own policy.
Waiting a call back from our insurance agent, but curious as to what experience others have had.

my brothers insure theirs, but they have tags on them also because they go to different places trail riding and things.ive never either tagged or insured mine, but it never leaves the farm.

I dont practice in the insurance law field butttttttttt one thing I recall from law school about whats covered or not covered in an insurance policy is: Its whats in the policy that matters NOT what your agent says, not what some attorney says, certainly not what anyone here says (regardless what THEIR own policy covered or didnt cover), its very strict contract law and interpretation and the lawyers who write the policies for those companies arent dummies.

Id say if its NOT covered (which it may well be, READ THE POLICY) it wouldnt be too exoensive to add a rider for liability in case your negligent operation of the unit caused injury to another person. Theres likely a small risk of that if youre operating it strictly on your farm so you have to decide if you want to bear the risk or insure against it,,, ITS YOUR RISK AND YOUR CALL if its not already covered that is.

Also, accidents do happen, but to be liable for anothers injuries the law has to find you first had a duty to another, you breached that duty, and such was the proximate cause of the injury i.e. Defendant has a duty NOT to expose Plaintiff to a "reasonably forseeable" risk of injury......Lots of fact questions and legal issues involved there.

My best free unresearched advice if your policy doesnt cover liability and youre gonna be using it alot and assuming a rider isnt all that expensive Id consider insuring against the risk myself, but hey Im NOT much of a risk taker

My farm insurance provider had to go with a different company than the company that covers my equipment, buildings and liability.

My Artic Cat Prowler has it's own policy for liability.

Liability is the side you need to worry about.

My ATVs have a separate policy. They are specifically NOT covered under your homer owners policy or general farm package.

But if a nephew or friend from the city comes out and it so much as gets one foot on the gravel road, or county road, and they pull out in front of someone. No coverage under farm policy.

Farm Bureau here sells you a motorcycle policy.

Liability for anyone, anyone, property damage, med pay, etc.

I thin it costs me around $12 or $15 a month. Maybe a little more.
