I finally decided to stop abusing my 3/4 Ton GMC, Hauling loads of hay like this were simply getting to be too much for the truck. Her replacement did not even whimper pulling this load.

We tested those trucks before they were put into production. The Oshkosh trucks that came later were also good trucks. I see them for sale at this web site. Hal

Yup, it"s a M35A2C, Deuce and a half, 2.5 Ton 6x6, It has the Multi-Fuel Diesel in it, runs like a top and will haul absolutely everything I need on the farm. I believe it is a much better investment than destroying my $36k GMC. I got it for a little over $4k, and that truck should outlast me. I bought it from a private owner, who buys alot of them from Government Liquidation, I know he made some money on it, but I did not have to deal with all the paperwork dealing with GL. I was able to look it over, make a deal and Drive it home. Overall, it"s a great truck.

Wow, it's refreshing to hear someone concerned about abusing their pickup.

Usually when the topic of towing comes up there's always that guy who posts a picture of his 3/4 ton moving 30,000lbs of hay. Says it handles it "just fine."

Well, I never really liked to use my Pickup for that task, but it was the only feasable option. The Deuce is a great fit, even with the two extra bales in the truck it hardly seems to notice there is a load on. I do plan to use the Deuce to Haul my 1130 Massey in to have the engine rebuilt, It still won"t be even close to maxing out the towing capacity of this truck.

That's a light load for one of those unless Old rolled them. i used to drive our Fire dept's. deuce and a half to some nearly inaccessible places with 2,000 gallons on it. Put in low range and it would just keep chugging along.

It"s only about 15,600 lbs, plus the 3,600 lb trailer. Still a light load for this truck. It"s nice to know It will likely outlast me. It was with the Alabama Field Artillery unit until around 2005, I plan on keeping it stock, and keeping up on the Maintenance, should be the last farm truck I ever need. Plus I get to keep a piece of History alive.
