He definately my dog, my shadow even. My wife and I like to walk around the gardens in the evening. When the asparagas was coming on we would pick some and eat it while we were walking. Dog started picking his own. Now he is picking apples off the tree and tonight he was eating a nice plump green tomato. Kinda hard to get upset with your buddy though!

Reminds me of when I was a kid my dog would pick raspberries off the bushes whenever I tried to pick some. She was really good at it - she'd take just the best ripe ones, and it'd always end up being a race with her to get the good ones.

Our golden retriever is almost 10 years old, got him when he was 3 weeks old, mom would not nurse the pups. Got a pic of him sleeping in one of my shoes just after we got him. Best dog with kids I have ever seen.

Ours used to take all the cantaloupe out of the garden, she'd go with us every day to check it, the day we'd go to pick it we would find her gnawing on it at the edge of the garden. Eventually we gave up growing cantaloupe and just bought it at the market.

About 28 years ago when I was first married, the wife and I would go and pick strawberries from our patch and the German Shepard we had at the time would crawl on his belly from about 6 feet from the edge and go and grab a berry and run up to the house and eat it and repeat it time and time again. We would keep picking and just chuckle. He would never go in the patch if we weren't in it.

Last dog I had (wife developed allergies, no more dogs for us unfortunately) would dig up her own carrots and potatoes. Garden area is fenced off to keep the sheep out of it, so she only got in if I let her in.

Had one years back that liked grapefruit. He'd eat anything I would eat, but he'd actually sit next to me and beg for grapefruit.

I call goldens a "leaner dog." They love to lean against your leg, no matter what you are doing. My best friend is named Austin and he was born in July 2003. Someone abandoned him on a dirt road in Ohio. So glad we have him, because I couldn't imagine life without him!
