Mom had to pull an egg out of the fridge for me when I got to the farm this morning after work-

She can't bing herself to use it yet- she found it yesterday in the coop.

Doesn't look like Jesus in French toast, but maybe a resemblance to the rooster's head if you look close!

You do find oddities like that from time to time. When I was a kid during WWII we had a hen that laid eggs consistently with a slightly flat side that looked like the sun with lines radiating from it. Dad said she must have been sympathetic to the Japanese! Since we had about a hundred layers, he never did find which one it was.

Hen getting old?

As they age, eggs get larger and hens can"t produce as much calcium for the sells - they get t hinner and softer. Eggs can get deformed.

But misshapen shells can also point to infectious bronchaitis in the hen. Might want to take a closer look at the flock. Listen for sneezing.
