I was disappointed to find MF 231 was made in Poland. I have been using it now for around 10 years with no major problems. I had to weld a hole in the block, and rebuild the motor when I got it. It took a beating today.I have been mowing a large field for some 6 years now. It's around 15 or so acres. There were a lot of smaler oak trees on the property. The owner had them taken out. They also ground out the root. Now the field is full of holes with a mound of dirt at each hole form the grinding operation. The holes are probably 16 in across, and 6-8 in deep. The mound of dirt is also 6-8 in high. Talk about a day or rough riding. Even thoug it pays good, I may not do it next year. I don't think my tractor, or fanny can do it again. I would think the tree people should have covered the holes up, but they didn't. Stan

I have a 1997 model 231 I've had for about 8 years. I too was disappointed when I found out it was built in Poland. I put about 150 hours a year on it. Its been a reliable tractor for me. Its nothing Fancy but it gets the job done and the Perkins engine is good on fuel. It had about 600 hrs on it when I got it and I have about 2000 on it now.

You can't be too 'buy American' patriotic with MF's, they were the first 'multinational corporation'. Today I put a pleasant hour and a half on my perkins gas 3 turf 20. 6 quarts burnt. I can live with that. Don't live with at obsticle course, you got a disc harrow? Spring tooth harrows? or a railroad tie and some chains? Charge him a fair price- like what you charge for mowing- to level the place out, it is useless as it is, as well as a liability to everyone and everything.

My 1967 135 Gas Deluxe was pretty much American Made. Only thing ”outsourced” are the hubs and the vertical exhaust elbow which have Canada stamped on them. When I go to my AGCO dealer, with little exception as well, and that being the steering wheel and gas & radiator caps, everything is US.

If it wasn't a diesel, the majority of those tractors share little other than paint, manufacturer and a model.
