Six days and still no power here in central Md.Heat index over a 100 again.Power co. actually showed up today and said we needed a transformer,we'll see if we can find one,see you in a day or two or three.Thanks.Anyone else still sufferin' without electricity?

We finally got ours back on this afternoon at around 1:30. I was getting real tired of feeding the generator gasoline and keeping things going in the freezers and refrigerators, while trying to also keep my a/c going.
All this shuffling back and forth on a 4500 watt generator was getting old, mistakes cost me a few electronic junk.....just give me the old days back please.

Geez, I sure hope they can restore your power SOON!

I cannot imagine 6+ days without power in this heat! In fact I cannot even imagine that many days without power, period. Most we have ever been without is about three and a half days (and it was not quite this hot).

We didn't even get a storm other than some lighning and one hail of a show to the south, but there are still some 30,00 customers out in Baltimore county to our south. Musta been one pile of wind. We barely got a good breeze. And Owe'Malley running around talking like he's personnally gonna be on the job and 'fix' things. Whatta joke. You folks have your hands full without that fool---

Some of the people I work with just got theirs back yesterday on the 4th. I live in ne IN. Another guy I work with lives in nw Ohio and he still off. They are telling him maybe by the 21st. He has been going through 35-40$ a day to run his generator. I guess I should count my blessings

Yup,I'm in Baltimore County. All nnalert Omalley cares about is Baltimore City and PG County, cause that's where all his entitled supporters are.

I can feel for you. I have power but last night my A/C-heat pump system went belly up for the 2 time in less then 6 years. It is around 103 out today and we have almost no AC right now. Have 3 small window units but they are not doing much. Do your best to stay as cool as you can and or maybe go swimming.

still out southern WV, say MAYBE Sunday night or Monday, power company worked about mile away 2 days ago and then left, looking for areas with large population first, oh well, done ate all ice cream first day power was off

Got power back monday night, AA County, though there are still areas without power. Got my computer problem fixed tuesday. Got 2/3 of the land phone lines back, today. Omuttley says he has his foot up Barely Getting Electric"s arse. That explains all the radio commercials, touting BGE"s efficiency at tree trimming! Must be a welcome switch from having it in his mouth!

We were out for 14 days when I was kid, in 1962, after the "Columbus Day Storm" (nearest thing we ever had to a hurricane, in western Washington).

Neighbor down the road several hundred feet had a generator, I guess, because he could pump out of his well, somehow- I was pretty young, and don't remember the specifics. We combined all of his hoses and all of our hoses, and wound up with enough to reach to our front yard.

At 9 AM and 3 PM, he would honk his car horn, which was the signal that he was hooking us up. We were in the front yard, at the ready with our jugs. Pretty soon, the water would start flowing (weakly, of course, through several hundred feet of hose), and we would fill our jugs. When full, we would honk our horn, and he would shut it off.

Pete and Lizzy Henry, emigrants to Washington from Nebraska- they were what neighbors were like, back in the day. Both long since gone, but I remember them fondly. Lizzie cooked on a wood range, but their foster son Jerry thought she should have an electric range. She hated it, and would just store stuff on top of it, but clear it off when he was going to come visit, so he would think she was using it.

RIP, Pete and Lizzie.

I feel for you, and wish there was something I could do. I have a spare 21KW PTO generator, but am 1000 miles away.

Can't blame the utilities for a lot of this. It's Mother Nature. We do a pretty good job here in the US. I work with guys who've recently come from India. It's routine for the power to go out fo 2-4 hrs EVERY DAY! That's in the urban areas. In the rural areas, it can be out for 4-6 hrs EVERY DAY! These are planned rolling blackouts due to the lack of generating power.

When a massive storm hits, the utilities rely on neighboring states to help out. Utility guys here in Michigan were in Ohio and were called back yesterday after bad weather hit here.

Also, there's been a big push to do massive tree removal to keep from having these outages due to weather but the people who live along the power lines are complaining and suing for losing trees they planted in the easements where the power company has the absolute right to keep it clear.

Hope your power comes on soon.

The power companys will not take down a tree on the wires even if you ask them to. Last year they went around to check for problem trees, when trimming time came they parked a truck in my yard for a day and dissapered. tree still on transformer still standing, because it was on meter side of pole said they could not do anything but nobody can do anything to take down because of transformer and live wires to it.

Mike (WA),
Neat story! Two weeks would seem unbearably long to go without power.

If we ever complained due to power outage, my dad would just tell us we were lucky because when he was a kid they did not have electricity at all. He said when it was hot at night, they just laid in bed and prayed for a breeze.

Odd how I keep telling people here to obtain a generator, transfer switch and fuel.
Most reply back that they don't need to as the power rarely goes out for more than an hour or two at most.
