Called yesterday evening about a 500 buck car and was waiting on him when he came home from work today... Car is gonna need brakes soon and a wheel bearing is humming a little (50 bucks worth of parts and a couple hours of work)... 2 years older than was advertised but only 65k miles on a 1990 ain't that bad. Ended up with it for 250 bucks...

1272 Cubic Centimeters (77.62 cu in) of raw power (54 HP) strapped in to a luxurious and sleek body with a trailer hitch..... 30 mpg city and 40 highway (if you keep your foot out of it)
Really not missing that kia much right now

30 minutes with a bottle of windex and some nufinish wax (??) and it looks like a new one....

These are the "before" pics.. Didn't wanna hurt anyone's eyes before they get to watch the fireworks tonight

Nice job!!! I have a 2000 Beetle with a TDI Diesel. 230,000 miles and still humming. 44 mpg average with stick shift. Best car I've ever had.

Yours may smoke a bit more than mine I'm guessing LOL. You'll want to check if yours has the timing belt. If so, and especially if it's an interference engine (valves hit pistons if it breaks) you may want to change that out.

Good luck, it looks great!

It does... and it does.... But the belt was just changed by the VW dealer at 60k...... (paperwork and receipts in glove box)....

(quoted from post at 13:26:44 07/04/12) looks great! best of luck to you! The next time I visit Germany will you take me for a ride in it? lol

Yea, but I'm not sure you could handle all that power slammin you back in the seat.... Maybe I could unhook a couple plug wires before we start.......

(quoted from post at 15:21:30 07/04/12) Looks good but I think the hitch is on the wrong end!

Saw someone pulling a two horse trailer (including horses) with one of these a few years ago.......

I would not put a horse float behind that and I have no doubt you won't either.
What is the towing capacity?
Small I should imagine.

Gotta look on the papers but I think about a ton or a little over.... Good for me. I can pull my little trailer to the BB store or haul a couple barrels of water etc when needed. Have the wife's vehicle for the bigger stuff on the road and the trctor for everything else... Thinking about a set of 14" wheels and tires to give a little more ground clearance and smooth out the chore loop road tho.....

Is that $250. US dollars? Dang, you can't find anything nearly that good on this side of the pond for that price! Last time I bought anything for that kinda money was about thirty years ago.I picked up a '69 Dodge Coronet 2dr. hdtp for $225.00. It was kinda ragged, but I drove it for about three years.

Over here in Ohio I was told that Milliron ( a big scrap yard )will come to your house and haul it off and give you $ 400 for any car or small truck. They must not have the scrap yards over there ?

Today's exchange it's $307... Not a bad deal.. Just went thru inspection this morning. A ruct hole in the floorboard corner seam about the size of a screwdriver blade and one brake is hanging a little (possibly a wheal bearig). New parts for these things are dirt cheap. Just ordered brake pads and rotors for the frt, shoes and drums for the rear, and wheel bearings/seals all around for around half what I paid for the car.....
