We cut this field 2 weeks ago today.Got the skids set at 2" on the Haybine.It has had absolutely no rain on it .The orchard grass is thin but will come back.I also sub soiled 24" deep before
I planted.

Your surface moisture must have been OK to provide that much regrowth. Though it does have great root systems. Many on here are drooling. Jim

I'm sure that sub-soiling made a big difference, let the water soak in deeper.

Alfalfa roots run deep, very deep. Subsoilers help any crop that's for sure!
