Pricing wheel weights .....

Where does a guy begin finding out how to price rear wheel weights? Obviously, make and model comes into it but is there any general rule to start, for example so much per pound etc?

What ever the market will bear. And location is everthing. I have seen a guy in Nebraska scrap wheel weights because it was to much work to burn them off. Where they are plentyful they don"t bring much. Sme styles are rare so they bring more. oldiron29

Here in northern NY I generally charge $100 for a set of weights, common Allis and Farmall are all I have had. They all have been sold, so the price must have been close enough to right.

JD and IH suit case weights will usually bring $1 per pound. The other brands will usually bring 50 cents a pound. Just about any case weight will bring more than scrap around here.

Dollar a pound for factory wheel weights for a Massey here. Suitcase weights? Haven't found anyone ready to get off of em to even get around to pricing them...

I have held off, on buying wheel weights, for my user tractors, due to my location. most any thing that I have found, is in a mid west state, and I can't justify the pourchase price, and shipping, for my small useage of the tractors. Have used exercise weights, on the front of my B Allis, in lieu of suitcase weights, but it looks dorky. I threw 2 front brake rotors in the scrap pile yesterday, after doing a brake job on my ford windstar, and after feeling the weight, I wondered if I could rig them up on my 16" front tires, as front wheel weights. Probably look like The Grapes Of Wrath!, but should help.

IH rear weights are cheap $25-75 for 140 lbs. The JD bring $1. or more per lb.

The rare IH and JD frame weights get expensive quick.

Got to agree IH rears can be bought cheap. Bought an entire pile of half rears for $8/each at an auction a few years ago. The old half ton box was nearly dragging when hauling them home. Never drove over 45 mph. Intended to buy the black strip IH 1486 but it didn't happen.

A 150lb weight is worth about $15 to a scrapper, so you gotta beat that.

I bought several sets of one-piece IH weights for $100 a pair a couple years back...

WOW! I want some of these $100 a pair IH wheel weights, Up here in Ontario IH wheel weights are $300 a pair, and 100lb stamped IH suit case weights are $125 a weight! And trying to find them is like trying to pull hens teeth.
