Power Outage in S.E. Ohio

Some of our neighbors lost power last night from the storm, we were lucky & only lost our cable which has the phone too. No cell phone service either. We have frozen food stuffs from some of the neighbors that are without power in our freezer and I have my portable welder loaned out to my next door neighbor so she can keep at least a little cool. (she's a couple years older than us and is a widow). Guess most of S.E Ohio is without power, don't know how we still have it, but it sure was nice without the boobtube going LOL Hope the rest of you guys came thru all right. Keith

My power went out at 4:00pm last night here in western Logan County, Ohio. Came back on at 9:00pm. were lucky only that long. Brought my little 2500 watt generator from the barn and ran the refrigerator and saved everything. Neighbor next road north of me was still without power at noon today and came over and got his generator that I has gotten running for him.

My neighbor and my woods join at back of my property. Took a golf cart ride this afternoon and it looks like a war zone. Trees broken off 15 to 20 feet above ground. One is a 15 inch hickory that broke over like that. Several big oak trees down that I could see and could only go a short ways on the trails till blocked by trees. This is very tall and mature trees and the wind load on them is tremendous. Around the house just have many limbs down and blown a hundred feet from the trees.

Storm went thru here last evening while we were at a farm sale.....my son Alex bought his first farm during the storm.....trees down all over, electric has been off since.....generator is running its guts out keeping 2 freezers, fridges, and a/c going.....and this computer and tv too.
Made it to the gas station for 30 gallons to tide us over a few days we hope.

Never fear, our local utility is sending several crews down to patch things up. (By the way, I'm not a fan of the maintenance practices of our local utility.)

Power went out Friday night for our daughter and for many more in the Baltimore and Washington DC area. Some say it may be a week before all power is restored as a lot of big trees are down. They need to be removed before repairs can be made. We had our power to click off, but came back on. Hal
