I pulled a pair of radiators out of a customer's home this week and brought them to the sandblaster. Now I have to prime, paint and then reinstall them. Good thing I have a tractor here.
No tree limbs big enough to hold them up. They are Heavy! Got the primer on this one and will let it dry in the sun a bit before I set it down and do the other.

Please post a pic after they are painted...assuming that is primer.

Do you use a special paint that is heat-resistant?

Are the insides being cleaned before restoration? If yes, how do you do it or what chemical is used? [Curious - we have the same type in our house.]

Did the owner of the radiator give you a tractor? did he buy you fuel? Battery? Pay taxes? But really with the small amount of tractor time you can hide it among the other charges. Like I never made an entry on the ticket for pressure washing. I just added labor.

If it is like the The show American Restoration, just get a shirt with the sleeves cut off and tell the guy it will be $8500 and stayed in the budget!

I just noticed your chain hook.

I have an identical boom pople and drilled it for a chain hook exactly where you did yours.

Something about great minds....

Homeowner was supposed to call me today with the paint color but she didn't.
No special paint required. That's Rustoleum primer and I will use Sherwin Williams oil paint for the finish coat as it shoots well with my automotive type gun. No high temp needed. Nothing needs to be done inside. I have done this several times before for other customers when I remodeled their home. Amazing how much nicer they look with 20 coats of flaking paint removed.

haven't seen a radiator like that since grade school 50 yrs. ago...are they still in use are is it just for decoration ?
