No you need to find and download a good anti bot and anti malware program plus removal tools for the same and run em. Don't think someone hacked yer account. But you opened something (could be an infected email from someone you know) that contained one of the above. Now that program is active and spamming stuff to everyone on your address list. They in turn without something dectecting it will do just what yours had done. SIL has it happen to her al the time because she opens every forward that she gets, even from unknown senders. Then make sure you have a good AV program (yes there are good ones for free while I prefer one I pay for) set up and running.

Try SpyBot Search and Destroy and/or MalwareBytes. You can download them both safely from CNET.com. They check for malware/spyware and are both free.
I always set them up to not run actively, or they will slow your computer down. I just run them on a schedule once a week.
If you're not certain on how to do that, simply uninstall them after you run them to check for problems.
These are pretty thorough, so be prepared to let either one run for a few hours until complete.

If you had this problem before, you probably have malware/spyware attached to your computer. Since its in the computer, changing your email just gives it another email to use. Be glad it didn't get your banking info!

There are lots of good anti-malware/spyware programs available. The free ones are adequate, but after having my computer get a virus 3 times with the free stuff, I invested in A-Vira for less than $30.00. Haven't had a problem for going on 2 yrs.

What kind of email service do you use?

Do you use your Internet Provider's email, or something like Hotmail, Yahoo, GMAIL, or AOL?

If you use one of the Hotmail/Yahoo/GMail/AOL online email services, nobody "logged into your computer." Nobody even touched your computer.

Online email services can be accessed from ANYWHERE. There may be a piece of malware/spyware on your computer that is sending the bad guy your username and password, or the online email site has been hacked.

In either case, there may be some spyware or malware that weasled its way on to your computer. You don't need to throw away your computer but you might want to seek professional help in ridding yourself of this stuff.

In the future, READ CAREFULLY any popup window before clicking on ANYTHING. They often fool you into installing software by using confusing wording.

When you install something you actually want, be sure that it doesn't try to install something else along with it. Look for fine print and small checkboxes.

My daughters yahoo account was hacked into by someone in Korea. It also affected my email. We share the same ISP, Verizon.
