Wife picked ours 2 weeks ago. What we didn"t eat the first day or two she froze. It"s so sweet, just like sugar. Yummy!

And then yesterday she picked these, first ones this year. There are probably another 30 or so out there.

I hope those melons are ready. I was always told never pick them till the vines are dry next to the melon.

Looks delicious! We boil it for 3 minutes too. A guy at a corn stand shared this method with me a few years ago. It is the best-ever cooking method and really retains the sweetness of the corn. Stays so sweet that we don't even add butter or salt anymore.

My mom always used to put the corn into boiling water, then bring it back to a boil and then boil it for an additional 10 minutes... way over cooked. Too hot to eat and tastes cob flavored when boiled too long.

The melons are a bit early, but not by much. They taste wonderful by the way. I agree with the dry stem, but with our heat they tend to crack open if we wait too long. Of course the chickens like it when that happens!
She cuts them open and digs out all the red, and whatever is left goes to the chickens. Sometimes the rind can be a half inch thick, but they eat every bit of it.

Our P&C should be ready in about a week, I'm guessing as silks are just starting to darken a little. Planted Incredible following the P&C by about 3 weeks, then another two rows of Incredible which is just getting a good start. Plan on another 2 rows of Incredible in about another 10 days or so. Hoping for sweet corn all summer long. Extremely hot here right now. Was 107.6 yesterday afternoon, weather guesser is calling for 100+ for next 6 days. Taking a lot of water to keep the corn going.

Nice looking corn, ours is still growing. Have you ever tried microwaving it? My wife does it this way http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,1850,158185-243196,00.html
and says the silk comes off with the shuck. I just eat it up. Not as good as on the grill (especially at a tractor show).
