Whats a Good Rate for Machine time

Just looking to update my rates to remain competitive for loader work, grading, smoothing and even some custom planting...including labor

Everything depends on location - and size/type of equipment.
Here in the North East my large loader (4 yard bucket) gets $150.00 per hr. The little Kubota/landscape rake gets between $35.00 & $50.00 depending on who I'm working for.

Do you have insurance?
How big is your equipment, horsepower, backhoe? loader? Need more info to make a judgement call.

Rates will vary according to equipment size , but the best guide is if you are getting too much to do or are turning alot of jobs away ,you are too cheap on your rates. If you are scrounging for work to do then you are probably too high unless you are the exception and do premium work and your customers dont realize it
ahead of time . Sometimes you can adjust your rates by comparison with a rental equipment price rate sheet.

As others have said, it depends.... Im at a base rate of 50.00 per hour for a 65 hp tractor, 55 for 86 hp, and 60 for 110 hp. That covers fuel up to 4.00 per gallon. Once it breaks 4 I add 5.00 per hour. Skid loader, back hoe, rock drill, and trencher at 70.00 plus bits. Same fuel flex rate. Everything above is on a 4 hour minimum and up to 20 miles one way. Dozer is 80 with an 8 hour minimum. Attachments add cost. A few people, like adjoining property owners I knock of 5.00 an hour and dont put a minimum charge on them.
